以前にも本書は買って読んでいましたが、今一度読んでみました。
「戦争は始めるよりも、終わらせるほうが難しい。」
歴史を学びながら上記のような洞察を得ることができるので、本書はとてもためになります。
やはり、ヨーロッパを理解するには宗教理解が欠かせません。
フランス・ドイツ・イギリス・スペイン・ロシアといった様々な国が政治的・宗教的な思惑を持ちながら戦争を行い、そして条約を結ぶのはとても複雑に感じました。
外交的な手腕で言えば、19世紀まではヨーロッパは一枚も二枚もアジアより上手だったでしょう。
自国の利益が確約されるのであれば、違法でも法外な条約を結んでしまっても問題なし。という、感覚すら覚えるアヘン条約以降の中国に対するヨーロッパの条約を見れば明らかです。
世界情勢に詳しくなる一冊です。

This book is very informative as it allows us to gain such insights while studying history.

I felt that it was very complicated for various countries such as France, Germany, England, Spain, and Russia to go to war with political and religious motives, and to conclude a treaty.
In diplomatic terms, Europe would have been one or two better than Asia until the 19th century.
As long as the interests of your country are guaranteed, there is no problem even if you conclude an illegal or outrageous treaty. This is clear if you look at the European treaties against China after the Opium Treaty, which even makes sense.
This is a great book to learn more about world affairs.
